Robert Moore

Robert Moore

We are sorry to report the death of another stalwart of the Club, Regatta and Small Boats Head. Robert was an enthusiastic supporter of the club for many years and never missed an event; as Club Treasurer in the 1980s and 90s he deployed his lawyerly eye for detail (but also a good deal of humour and tolerance). He was one of the founders of Walton Small Boats Head in 1978, and continued to be its Treasurer until 2021. He went on to be Club President 2001-4 and President of Walton & Weybridge Regatta; he was also a Trustee of the Rowing Foundation.

Robert had suffered from a range of painful and debilitating illnesses for the last few years, and for most of the last year he was housebound; but he maintained his positive spirit until the last, and personally dusted his collection of vintage china every week. He died in St Peters Hospital after a fall at home last week. He will be sorely missed by his many friends in the rowing community; we send our best wishes to his family, particularly his sister Maggie and her son Steve.
