Hampton Head was a challenge for the Walton crews, only the third weekend back on the river after six weeks of red boards, and the results were correspondingly mixed.
Whereas at the Pairs Head it was the Hollies who bore the medals, at Hampton you had to have a Max in your crew! Wins for Max D and H Hall in Sch/Jun doubles, Max C and Martim in J15 doubles were backed up by Max C, Martim, Oli K and Ben S c Maya in J15 fours.
Earlier Oli and Ben, racing with Alfie and Seth, just missed out on a J15 quads medal by 0.7 secs in a very large field. The J15 girls also put in a great quads performance with Rachel, Leila, Myla D and Kiriana c Evangeline to come 11th in a field of nearly 40 crews. Then with Emily and Rosa they came an excellent 4th in coxed fours in their first-ever sweep race. Issy and Holly had a tough pairs race, having to fight their way through boats ahead of them, many of whom will have been two years older than them, to miss out on the win by 3 secs. Then teaming up with Juliette and Fran they put in a great quads performance too.
