On Thursday we named a new coxless quad “Phil Norman”, after one of the club’s first Junior GB representatives (at the first-ever FISA Junior Champs in 1968) and half of the club’s first senior gold medal at the National Championships (with Myles Micklefield in 1976). Between the two Phil also had a successful career racing with the University of London, reaching the final of the Ladies twice. Phil has been fighting ill-health for several years and we were very pleased that he was able to join us to christen “his” boat.
